Every community that has ever been overlooked, underestimated, or written off carries the same potential. The Church of the Nazarene was named for this truth — and we carry that name into the highways and the byways.

Black Ministries brings the voices, experience, faith, and leadership of Black congregations into the life of the whole church. Our vision is for Black, white, Hispanic, and multicultural congregations to worship, serve, and learn together through relationships of mutual respect.

In Memphis, Clarksdale, and Jackson, congregations bring gifts the whole district can learn from. We walk together through prayer, practical resources, encouragement, and shared ministry.
Bible quizzing, preaching, basketball, and performing arts create opportunities for discipleship. Course of Study and the planned Shalom Summit help emerging leaders develop their calling.

Jesus was called Jesus of Nazareth. The Nazarene. He came from a place people overlooked, underestimated, and dismissed. He ministered to people the religious establishment ignored. He went to the margins — not occasionally, but deliberately, as a way of life.
The Church of the Nazarene carries that name on purpose. It is a declaration that God shows up in the places nobody expects. That the overlooked are not forgotten. That your community has the same potential Nazareth did.
We preach holiness. But holiness was never meant to be lived behind closed doors. Holiness walks into the byways. Holiness shows up at the margins. Holiness says your life matters and your life has purpose.
The leadership of the Mid-South District believes that a church reflecting the full breadth of its community reflects the full character of God.
When crisis hits a community — floods, storms, devastation — the Church of the Nazarene shows up. Midsouth Disaster Response is an official Nazarene ministry led by Bill Bridges that brings real, practical help to people in their most desperate moments.
